Katie Garland

Student Researcher, Recipe Developer, Blogger, Lead Demonstrator, Website Manager

Hello! My name is Katie Garland and I am a Junior Dietetic Major at the University of Dayton. I was blessed to be able to return to school, at the age of 31 to follow my passion of nutrition. I hope to work in both pediatrics and to also help those struggling with eating disorders. A healthy relationship with food is the start of any healthy lifestyle and I would like to help as many people build that as possible. I enjoy going to many live concerts with my boyfriend, spending time with my nieces and nephew, hiking with my dog, and traveling as much as possible. Through our social research at the market, I hope to learn more about food insecurity in my community and to help advocate for ways to improve access to those  in Dayton who need it most.

Lead Demonstrator, Recipe Developer

Hi guys! My name is Kathleen Curran and I am a dietetics major at the University of Dayton. I love cooking because it allows you to completely control what you put into you body and it's tons of fun! I hope to learn more about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle through my studies at UD. My goal is to become a pediatric dietitian or to be a dietitian at a nursing home. Besides cooking, I love playing sports, spending time with friends, and watching movies with my sisters.

Gina Valentino

Lead Demonstrator, Recipe Developer

Hello! My name is Gina Valentino, I'm a UD dietetics student from Lexington, Kentucky. I chose to major in dietetics because I saw a need for nutrition education for those around me. As I've progressed through school I've found that I greatly value opportunities that allow me to work with people of all different ages and lifestyles. Not to mention, who doesn't love learning about food? Coming to RTA  Market and leading food demonstrations gives me a "sneak peak" into what being a dietitian is all about. Helping others find good foods that are good for them is energizing and is one of the many reasons why I continue to come back and help. If I'm not at RTA Market or studying you you will most likely find me trying new recipes, going on hikes with friends, or binge watching Parks and Rec (for at least the fourth time). See you at the Market!
